Morning Mist · Return Journey

Why do Huangguoshu first, then Xiaoqikong?
Huangguoshu is in Anshun (west), Xiaoqikong is in Libo (south). West-first-then-south — Guiyang → Anshun → Libo → Xijiang → Guiyang — the entire loop has zero backtracking. Reverse it (Libo first, then back to Anshun) and you'd add 400 km of wasted driving.
Why stay overnight in Xijiang instead of a drive-through?
The soul of the Miao Village is in the night view and morning scene — at dusk, ten thousand lights illuminate the valley like a starry sky; at dawn, cooking smoke rises from the stilted houses. If you don't stay overnight, you only see the commercial street during the day, missing the two most beautiful moments. We stay in a mountain-view room — open the window and the entire sea of lights is right there.
Why not just see the main fall at Huangguoshu?
Huangguoshu is a combination of three scenic areas — the Main Fall (77.8m tall), Tianxingqiao (water-eroded stone forest + Silver Chain Drop Waterfall), and Doupotang (the widest waterfall section). Competitors spend 1 hour at Huangguoshu for a quick photo and leave; we cover all three areas, spending a full 5–6 hours.

June–August is the flood season with the highest water flow — the waterfall is at its most spectacular. April–May and September–October have moderate flow with fewer visitors, still a great experience. November–March is the dry season and the flow noticeably drops. We recommend avoiding the October Golden Week — crowds are 5–8x normal.
