The glacier cable car has a daily limit of 10,000 tickets — tight in peak season. We pre-reserve tickets with a 95%+ success rate. In the rare event we can't get them (extreme weather/maintenance), your travel consultant informs you before departure with an alternative: Spruce Meadow cable car + Blue Moon Valley deep tour, with the price difference refunded. You won't arrive at the mountain base only to be told "can't go up."
Is Shangri-La's altitude suitable for elderly and children?
Shangri-La city sits at 3,300m — it does require acclimatization. But we stay two nights in Lijiang (2,400m) as a buffer — the vast majority adapt naturally with no issues. Pudacuo has boardwalks and shuttle buses, Songzanlin Monastery doesn't have many steps. The driver-guide carries oxygen and glucose onboard, and the travel consultant monitors online. If someone truly can't adapt — they can stay an extra day in Lijiang and skip Shangri-La; the travel consultant adjusts on the fly.
